What is Refresh rate ?

What is Refresh Rate ? 90Hz and 120Hz

What is refresh rate? 90hz and 120hz

Your first question as soon as you see the mobile is that how many inches of the screen is there and which panel is attached to it.  Because this is the thing on which everything depends.  Today there is no display in mobile, then nothing.  This is the reason that some new innovations are being seen on the display day.  You have often heard of display panel technology like LCD, AMOLED, OLED, IPS.  Apart from this, the words Corning Gorilla Glass and Dragon trail have also been heard for many years. In the last two years, there has been a lot of discussion about Notch and Curved Display.  But from the year 2019, talks started on the refresh rate, which is still going on.  60 Hz refresh rate, 90 Hz refresh rate and 120 Hz refresh rate.  In such a situation, you would also like to know what the refresh rate is?  What are its benefits and which refresh rate is best for you?  So let us know in detail about the display refresh rate.

What is refresh rate :

Everything you see on mobile, TV or any screen actually appears after several processes.  When the whole process is correct, then things are displayed on the screen.  For this many techniques are used in the background and one of them is render.  The render process is known as refresh rate.  That is, the number of times images and graphics can be rendered in 1 second is the same refresh rate for that display.

What is the relationship between refresh rate and hertz :

As you know that the refresh rate is repeated every time the render process is repeated in 1 second and the scale to measure this refresh rate is known as Hertz.  So every time you will see Hertz with refresh rate.

Typically a 60 Hz refresh rate is used in mobile phones or TVs.  That is, graphics or images are being refreshed 60 times in 1 second.  Similarly, the 90 Hz refresh rate means that frames are being rendered 90 times in 1 second before anything is displayed on the screen of your phone, TV or computer.  However, the ease with which we are listening to the 90 Hz refresh rate is not as easy.  It is not possible to do this on a simple processor and low RAM, but it is necessary to have a high performance hardware combination.  In recent times, some phones have been launched which use a 120 Hz refresh rate.  That is, the hardware of these phones refresh a frame 120 times in 1 second.  That means two times more than an ordinary phone.

High refresh rate is beneficial! ?

High refresh rate requires high capacity hardware but its direct effect will be seen on the screen of your phone.  Whatever appears in mobile or television are on a frame basis, and the faster the frames are rendered, the more smooth the display will look.  A TV or mobile viewer with higher refresh rate will look better than a display with a simple 60 Hz refresh rate.  Apart from this the scrolling will get better and the play back will also be quite stable while watching the video.

Although you will see this difference in the downloaded video, but when you stream the video or play games with heavy graphics, then it will be clearly understood.  In the old phone, when you are playing the game, the frames will be stuck a bit, as well as the graphics will look a bit torn.  But when you play heavy graphics games in a display of 90 Hz or 120 Hz refresh rate, it will not feel like this.  It will be quite smooth.

Often when visuals get stuck during games or video streaming, we say that this is happening because of low RAM and simple processor.  But each time the reason is not just RAM and processor but also a low refresh rate.

Even a little loss :

It is said that not every coin has two sides.  In such a situation, there is an advantage of high refresh rate, so there is also some loss.  There are mainly two disadvantages with displays with a 90 Hz or 120 Hz refresh rate.  One, it increases power consumption.  TV is installed in the home, in such a way it is not known there but in mobile you will feel.  Battery will drain faster.  However, many mobile manufacturers are using some special technology in which if there is a similar frame, the display does not render the same frame again and again, which saves battery.  But this makes only a small difference on the battery.

At the same time, the other drawback is that even more apps or games do not support 90 Hz refresh rate.  In such a situation, you take an expensive phone but its utility is a little less.  Yes, you will definitely feel the smooth display.  At the same time, you will be prepared for the future in advance.

One more thing to be noted is that even if you take a call of 90 Hz or 120 Hz refresh rate, you have the option to change the refresh rate.  In such a situation, if you feel that the battery is running out very quickly, then you can reduce the refresh rate.  Can increase it for better experience only during gaming or video.

Phones with high refresh rate display :

Till 2018, there were only 60 Hz refresh rate mobile phones.  But in the beginning of last year 2019, OnePlus started it with its 7 Series.  The company first launched Oneplus 7 pro.  After this, Oneplus only introduced 7t and 7t pro.  Later other companies introduced it in their phones, in which many phones including Nubia red magic 3s, Realme X2 Pro, Realme X 50 Pro, Oppo Reno 3 Pro and Poco X2 have been available.  On the other hand, it can be said that recently, Realme has introduced Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro in the lower range and also has a 90 Hz display.

Talking about 120 Hz refresh rate, ASUS was first introduced in the ROG 2 model.  After this, Samsung has introduced it in its Galaxy S20 series.  Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus and Galaxy S20 Plus Ultra have this 120 Hz refresh rate display.

What will happen next?

Currently the number of phones with 90 Hz refresh rate is quite low.  But as we said that currently Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro Pro are the lowest priced phones with a 90 Hz display.  In the coming days, this feature will be available in even less range phones.  Yes, phones with a refresh rate of 120 Hz are a bit expensive, but it is expected that by the end of this year it will be available for less than Rs 20 thousand.

Which refresh rate is beneficial for you :

If you do odd jobs in mobile including only calling, messaging and web surfing, then the 60 Hz refresh rate is enough.  At the same time, there is the work of watching videos and playing a few games, then the 90 Hz refresh rate is enough.  Yes, if you play a lot of games, it is better to take a phone with a 120 Hz refresh rate.

If you want advance technology, then it is a better option to take 120 Hz.
